Apple announced its new iPhone 4 yesterday (7th June 2010) with several features and new iOS 4 after a year of iPhone 3GS release. This phone has a completely new design and 100+ new features.
Major changes on iPhone 4
- 9.3mm in thickness which is 24% thinner than iPhone 3GS.
- Display size remains 3.5 inches and double the pixel of 640 x 960 pixels.
- 800:1 contrast ratio and IPS technology for better color and viewing angle.
- Three axis gyro sensor that supports pitch, roll and 6-axis motion sensing. Best for gaming.
- 5MP camera with LED flash, tap to focus and 720p HD video recording with video light. Front Camera for video calling.
- Mute and volume up and down keys on the left.
- Mic, Connector and Speaker at the Bottom, headset connector , mic for noise cancellation and sleep/wake on top.
- Retina Display which has 4x more pixels (326 pixels per inch) than 3Gs.
- Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
- Apple A4 processor like iPad.
- Better battery with 6hrs of 3G browsing, 10hrs of Wi-fi browsing and video playback , Talktime of 7hrs (3G) and 14hrs (2G), 40h Music and 300h of standby.
iOS 4 Features
- Multitasking – which was mostly expected feature now available with iOS 4
- iMovie to edit videos of 360, 420p and 720p. 5 different video transitions.
- Unified Mail box, E-mail threading and conversation. Multiple Microsoft exchange account support.
- Create folders and drag and drop app into it.
- Now Search with Bing along with Google and Yahoo.
- iBooks now on iPhone. Purchase book for one device and share it with iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone. Bookmark, place and notes sync with all the device.
- iAds which is more interactive with the video ads.
- Video calling both portrait and landscape with Face time using both front and rear camera.
Some of the features that are disappointing are it supports only iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 video calling (Face time) through Wi-fi only and absence of an FM Radio. iPhone 4 is available in two colors – black and white and pre-order will start on 15th June and goes would go on sale from 24th of June in U.S, France, Germany, U.K and Japan. Shipping for 18 more countries from July.
